In Shelter Under Protection

In my latest painting, 'In Shelter, Under Protection', I, Tetyana Pchelnykova, respond to the tragic events of the bombing of Kyiv by fascist Russia during the New Year holidays. This canvas is a powerful expression of my feelings and reflections on these challenging times.

The young woman depicted in the painting is rendered in my unique primitive style. She is wrapped in a cover adorned with Trypillian symbols, an important part of my artistic heritage and cultural identity. The world's arch, framing the figure of the woman, symbolizes protection and simultaneously a separation from the external world of violence and chaos.

Surrounding her is the dark foliage of the forest, creating a contrast between the inner world of the individual and the unpredictable external world. This painting not only reflects reality but speaks of inner strength, hope, and faith in the future, despite external circumstances.

'In Shelter, Under Protection' is an expression of my belief in the resilience of the spirit, the importance of cultural heritage, and the need to preserve our inner world during times of trial. This canvas is an invitation to reflect on how we can find shelter and solace in our own culture and history, which gives us strength in the most difficult times.
