About
Hello!
I’m Tetiana Pchelnykova, a Ukrainian artist based in Kyiv.
Since 2016 - full-time artist, entrepreneur. Volunteer since 2024. I support women whose sons and husbands died during the war with the Russian occupiers. Among them are also children of deceased fathers. I conduct painting classes for them - it is a kind of art therapy for them.
My work centers around the themes of nature’s grandeur and its delicate beauty, drawing parallels to the strength and wisdom of women, deeply connected to their ancestral roots. This exploration is particularly relevant in today’s world, where the perceived stability of life is often revealed to be fragile. As an artist, I investigate the role of women as vessels of generational wisdom, with the potential to rekindle humanity's sense of responsibility toward the planet and its natural resources.
Through my art, I aim to prompt discussions about preserving the fragile balance of nature within a society marked by polarized views. How can the intuitive knowledge of women guide us in reconnecting with nature? Can a woman’s inherent wisdom and sensitivity help shape societal attitudes toward the planet and its conservation? Art, for me, is a powerful medium to bring such critical questions into the public consciousness, fostering dialogue about humanity’s future and its relationship with the environment.
My personal motivation stems from a deep sense of connection to the earth and to the wisdom of past generations. My work reflects my concern for the future of the planet and my desire to express, through painting, my own quest for wholeness and unity with the world. In this context, my art becomes a statement of urgency, calling attention to the need for collective action in preserving nature’s resources.
In my practice, I navigate the dynamic tension between modern society’s efforts to preserve the natural world and our primal attraction to untamed forces. My work embodies the oscillation between these realms, seeking to question how we, as a global society, can sustain the wisdom of the past while adapting to contemporary challenges.
Moving forward, I will continue to explore the interconnectedness of female identity and the forces of nature. I’m particularly interested in how this dialogue can evolve within the broader societal discourse, and what role my research will play in shaping that conversation. My work serves as a reflection of my inner world, my ongoing experiments with form and material, and my belief that each image I create carries a unique story and meaning, open to interpretation by each viewer.
Art, for me, is not just a form of expression—it is a means of communication, a way to explore my thoughts and feelings, and a path to finding answers to the pressing questions of our time. I believe in the transformative power of art to make the world a better place, and I strive for my work to inspire reflection, self-discovery, and interaction with the environment.
I have a MoMa certificate. Since 2018, my paintings have been presented at national and international exhibitions, including 4 solo ones.
My paintings can be found in private collections across the United States, Japan, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Austria. My exhibition history includes:
